My Cup Is Full and Running Over!

Dear Church Family,

WOW! I remember as a kid singing the song, “My Cup Is Full and Running Over!” “Since the Lord saved me I’m as happy as can be, my cup is full and running over.” Well today there are so many things I want to say but so few lines to say it in. Plus if I ramble on you won’t read these words of Pastor Thought. But, My Mind is Full and Running Over! I know, I know, you are probably saying, “Yes we know what your mind is full of.”

Let me begin by saying, “Happy Labor Day!” I hope you get some rest from your labors on this last of summer first of fall holiday. Becky, Shari and I have been off on a little vacation of sort, camping at the Davey Crockett State Park and Camp Ground. As I am writing this I am in great anticipation of some much needed R&R time with family. Hope you get some of what we have been enjoying the last few days. (Or what I hope we will be enjoying…lol) Anyway you get the point, “Happy Labor Day!”

Today starts our new church year as well. I want to welcome our new church leaders and officers to their points of service and thank you for stepping up to serve. You may not think about it but you are the front line soldiers in a spiritual battle for the souls of men, women, boys and girls. And as good soldiers do you train. Thanks to you good soldiers who went to the training this past week to re-sharpen and improve your skills in the Lord’s work. You have demonstrated your love for the Lord and your desire to serve Him to the best of your ability by preparing and training. Only those who think themselves too accomplished in their task feel no need to train and that is prideful and dangerous. Those who refuse to train are usually the first casualties of spiritual warfare. So please prepare, serve well and train hard for the task the Lord has set before you. Be a good soldier.

An anonymous writer wrote this and the words are my prayer for you as you serve the Lord and this church this year.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.

The Lord Jesus Christ is my Commanding Officer.                                                      The Holy Bible is my code of conduct.
Faith, Prayer, and the Word are my weapons of Warfare.
I have been taught by the Holy Spirit, trained by experience,
tried by adversity, and tested by fire.
Sodier not a scholar
I am a soldier in the army of my God.
I am a volunteer in this army, and I am enlisted for eternity.
I will either retire in this Army or die in this Army;
But, I will not get out, sell out, be talked out, or pushed out.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
I am faithful, reliable, capable, and dependable.
If my God needs, me, I am there. I am a soldier. I am not a baby.
I do not need to be pampered, petted, primed up,
pumped up, picked up, or pepped up.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
No one has to call me, remind me,
write me, visit me, entice me, or lure me.
I am a soldier. I am not a wimp.
I am in place, saluting my King,

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
Obeying His orders, praising His name, and building His Kingdom!
No one has to send me flowers, gifts, food, cards, candy, or give me handouts.
I do not need to be cuddled, cradled, cared for, or catered to.
I am committed.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
I cannot have my feelings hurt bad enough to turn me around.
I cannot be discouraged enough to turn me aside.
I cannot lose enough to cause me to quit.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
When Jesus called me into this Army, I had nothing.
If I end up with nothing, I will still come out even.
I will win. My God will supply all my needs.
I am more than a conqueror.
I will always triumph.
I can do all things through Christ.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
Devils cannot defeat me.
People cannot disillusion me.
Weather cannot weary me.
Sickness cannot stop me.
Battles cannot beat me.
Money cannot buy me.
Governments cannot silence me,
and hell cannot handle me!

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
Even death cannot destroy me.
For when my Commander calls me from this battlefield,
He will promote me to a captain.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
in the Army, I’m marching, claiming victory.
I will not give up.
I will not turn around.

I am a soldier in the army of my God.
marching Heaven bound.
Here I stand!
